My Portrait Of A Lady

To start with my 11th grade classes have started and its just 2 days that i have already started feeling the pressure. The Physics syllabus and the maths concepts are so much that I don't even know how i will study all this for  my papers. But my start ain't that bad for now cause i have been studying daily whatever has been taught in class. But it is a human nature that we start a work with perfection but when it reaches the end it becomes clumsy and untidy(At least that's the case of all my notebooks. The first few pages would be so damn neat but by the time you reach the middle , you will be able to see the REAL fate of my notebook). Still I have my hopes high that i will be able to cope up with the syllabus cause i have been understanding whatever has been taught in class. Also another problem at my shoulders is that my Responsibility burden is still no over... After being a prefect for 4 years in Middle School and 1 year as the Head Prefect I thought my responsibility works are all over but no; In class 11 I have been chosen as the Class Representative. I'll manage it but I just hope that it doesn't become an obstacle for me in 11th and 12th.

So today I was reading our first english chapter "The Portrait Of A Lady" which is about a grandmother who used to live with her grandson in a small village. She used to be the grandson's best friend and would accompany him to the school which was located near a temple. So as the grandson would be studying the Grandmother would be reading rituals in the temple and both of them would go back home together. Later the Grandson's parents call both of them to live with them in the city and they move. Here the grandmother is not able to accompany him to the school and as he grows she sees that she is not able to help him in the things he is being taught in school which makes her sad and lonely. Her only happy moment she has is during the evening when she feeds bread crumbs to sparrows who raid their veranda. Later he moves out for higher studies and she becomes more sad and depressed. When he comes back he sees that still she feeds the sparrows but the flock of sparrows had increased by a huge number. Later she becomes sick and later dies. They place her body in the veranda for some time covered and when they come back to take the corpse they see that the veranda is full of sparrows but they weren't chirping as usual. They were all sitting there beside the corpse in silence. The grandson's mother places some bread crumbs on the floor for them to eat but no one meets an eye. All sit there silently looking at the body. When the family takes the body for the funeral the sparrows fly away quietly. At the end of the story there was a question-
"Is there someone in your family who has been a big part of your life and you will never forget that person even if they pass away?"
Then I immediately remembered my grandmother who I usually call Ammachi(my mother's mother). She has been a big part of my young life.
I don't know when i saw her first but from the time I remember till now I don't know why but she just doesn't seem to age. She looks the same, with that happy little smile always on her face and a sewing needle in hand. You see she has a hobby of sewing cloths. Its not a much of an interesting hobby for at least my generation but by my experience I have seen that my grandmom's generations likes it.  Also I just love my grandmother's food. You can't believe how good she cooks. I die to eat the food she cooks when I go to Kerala.
I still remember when I went to Kerala alone and I stayed a night at my grandmom's place. I got Prawns for dinner because she knows I LOVE Prawns. She made me a Prawn curry, Prawn pickle, Prawn fry and roti. It was heavenly and the next day when I went to Thiruvananthapuram by train she made me around 8 roles filled with prawns for breakfast. I can't forget eating those delicious roles and people staring at me dreaming that they would be in my place eating those prawns.

My grandmom also has another interesting hobby. She participates in all the TV competitions like "TEXT -blah blah- to 000123 to get a free TV" etc. and she does win many things. Its fun to see her being so enthusiastic even at her age. She is so active and healthy and lives alone even at such an old age without feeling lonely and sad. The best thing I find about her is that she also likes animals like I do. She used to have these 2 dogs with her and when I was young I used to spend majority of my time playing with them. It was great; they were technically my first dogs but now I have Eevee. After they passed away my Grandmom got a Parrot. Even though she doesn't have any pets at present but I like my grandmom a lot. She is funny, caring,  loving and as i said earlier the best cook. She is beautiful and I would love to make a portrait of her but i just don't want that a portrait of my grandmother would ever hang on my house's wall and a garland would hang over it. Even though I just see my grandmother only once an year I do care about her and love her a lot.

If my grandmom is reading this right now i just want to say something- I LOVE YOU AMMACHI. :)

Whats Goin' On Right Now...

My papers are over and i have a month of peace in front of me before i enter the realm of class 11. So I have been having a bash for the past 1 week and it has really been amazing. Even though for me amazing right now means siting in front of the computer and playing games and doing some graphic designing but it is fun. I may not be spending my time like the others going out and playing but this is also a way to feel free.
My mom tells me to stop sitting in front of the PC and do something "useful". Presently, I don't know what is that "useful" but i know I will find it out.
When the holidays had started i had thought of a To-Do-List. Of what all I would try to do in these days and till now i don't think I have completed even a few...

1.Reign Of Chaos (RoC)

I had thought of completing my game or at least a major portion of the game so that at least the trailer can be released. For those who don't know I am making a game with my friend Shaurya and even though completing the game will take me at least 3-4 more years, I am pretty sure I will complete it. Its a MOBA which is damn tough to make but I will do it. I have completed the map design, unit and building designs. Whats left are stats, items, heroes and abilities. The problem is they are the toughest to make and i have no idea how to do the programming for all that.

2.Solstice

During this break I had completely forgot about my book and I guess my family did too. The time I remembered it was when I went to a friend of my brother's house and found out his sister had published her book. That is when I thought- "What happened to my book Solstice?"
Its  comedy if you see the history of my book. It hasn't made ANY progress after the day we met a editor i guess 3 years ago.
Its sad to see that my book hasn't got published after seeing how much time we had spent on it but all things happen for a reason. So  I had thought  should I really rewrite the complete book or not and I am not yet sure if I am going to write it AGAIN as when I think of it now it was such a typical story line a kid of 10 would write and now I am 14 so I can't even think like a 10 year old. So this goal is still a mystery.

3. Shakespeare

In my English syllabus I had a Shakespeare play and I genuinely found it interesting . So I told my mom that I would like to read more of these plays but it was my exam period so I could waste  my time then and as I have a lot of time to spare now I have to read at least 2-3 Shakespeare plays now. I have thought of reading "Macbeth" , "As you like it" and "Cleopatra and Antony".
Hope I complete this.

If I am able to complete these 3 tasks then it is going to be amazing. So wish me best of luck as I try to get off this PC and do something USEFUL.
:)

top 10 of 2013

Today is my Birthday. But I am not going to scream and shout and go all bonkers about it. I am not going to sit and play on the computer all day. But I found a much for entertaining way of spending the occasion - Studying Mathematics for my Board paper which starts on Monday.
Isn't that just incredible?! God found the perfect date for the exams to start and my birthday. And that's not it, I have another treat for all. Today is also Justin Bieber's birthday.
NOTE: All Biliebers please leave this blog right away.
So talking about songs and the worst singers of the generation, I came to the idea of writing the best songs of the year 2013. If a regular reader, you must have noticed that every year I do write a top 10 list and this year it is the top 10 songs of 2013.

10. Lorde - Tennis Court
I just had to put this in the top list. I know this song isn't as popular as Team and Royals by Lorde but I just find this song great. The video is so scary to watch and she is too but the song is worth coming in this list.

Even though she has gone bonkers these past years , but I think this bonkers has helped her to make good songs and Wrecking Ball is just a superb song. Must watch even if you don't like her.

Eminem has always been an epic singer and has never dissapointed me. In his new album, I had a choice of keeping Headlights, Monster or Rap God but I just liked this song so much.

I haven't heard any other song of P!nk other than this but this song was way too good. Great music and great lyrics.

I was used to hear so much about this song in school that I was made to listen to it and now it is on Number 6 in the top 10. Nothing else needed to say how good the song is.

Great question , great song, stupid lyrics but won't get tired of listening to it.

Justin Timberlake..... Thats enough to say how great the song is.

Katy Perry has blown my mind with this song. Great beat, music and good lyrics. Its an all in one.

One guy who sings as well as plays the guitar for his songs and makes such a masterpiece. Salute You. My Mom likes this song, I like this song, My dog is scared of this song. Thats just great.

I know she has come twice in the list but her voice is just so great. This song also got Song of the year and billboard no. 1 for so many weeks. Its just amazing. For a 17 year old, I salute her.

Time is the thief of Memories

My school has been truly a home away from home and now I have to leave through the same hallowed gates through which I entered for the first time.
"Life if wonderful"
This is only because we have friends and a place where our friendship is stronger and we feel united i.e. our school.
Friends are the people who are aware of how retarded you are and still manage to be seen in public with you. People who make you laugh till you pee your pants. People who cry for you when one of our special items disappear. When you don't have enough money to get a ice cream , they chip in. Know all of your internet passwords. Who would never make you cry just to be mean.
In this adventurous life I have encountered many such people who are also travelling these lands in the search of their goals. But some amongst them don't realize that they cannot achieve their goals without having a helping hand nearby which will always hold your hand when you slip off the edge of  cliff or when you have to climb a steep  slope. The ones who realize this always continue their quest with a friend with them. Even in famous books and many TV series the protagonist has a group of friends with him when he starts his adventure, even if the aim of the quest if to get a girl you love or to get into the bermuda triangle and all. Never in books do you see a person completing his journey alone. If someone is he ends up failing in his quest. So a friend is always required for the protagonist to move forward.
In my quest, where I am the protagonist friends have a major role to play.  the famous Kabir once said, friendship is like a string, strong  and firm but if it breaks and you try to join it, it will join but there will be a knot on the string. Just like that i also have had friends and people who used to be friends. But the ones who I can solely trust are the real friends who I can rely o on this quest. And many of these friends have I met inside those hallowed gates of my school.
I have remained in the same school from Kindergarten to class 10 from which I graduated yesterday and my experience has been delightful. In these 11 years I have done and gone through so many crazy things and I will never forget these moments. Time has flown by so quickly and feels just like yesterday when I had first entered the Junior School because we've had our share of laughter, fun, free periods, bunks, appreciations cards and time outs.
Come to think of it, it does feel a bit too short.

About seven years ago, we had another Graduation from class 3, we felt apprehensive as to what the middle school was all about. We were scared yet anxious. I still remember those pencil boxes we were gifted when we were welcomed into class 4 by our seniors and our soon to be teachers. Over the years, we became accustomed to new teachers, new friends, and new people. We were being ground into the earth, face down took on a whole new meaning for us during those pyramid practices. These are memories which will be there in our hearts always. But some may get lost as time passes by. Time is the thief of memories and so these memories have to be kept somewhere safe.
I still remember those days in class 5 and 6 when my friends Shaurya, Mayank and I would sit during the recess and quarrel over who was more powerful-Pikachu or Raichu. Those days when they would come to my house and we would sit all night playing Duel Masters. Kids live in a completely different world, where what is real is something we would ignore and what is virtual would be what we would be sucked into. But those were also cherishable times and how much we try we can't recreate them as our mindset has now changed.

I also remember the days Shivam and I would sit in front of the Edmund Rice Hall and discuss about the Protagonists of the book we were going to write and we did write the complete book. After an year or so , we finished the book -"Solstice- Dragon Mountains" in the hope of getting it  published but even after 4 years that hope hasn't changed to reality.
Then in class 9 when I met Shreyas, Pratulya, Trevor and all who were there beside me at all times(and by beside me I refer to Whatsapp , Facebook etc. Means of communications have changed). Over-nights at Shreyas's place with Vaasu and Vibhu were also great moments which I will always remember. Then me becoming the Head Prefect and meeting Aakash Dutt. There are many more and I will remember all.
Our Graduation which was held yesterday was great and such moments can only be recreated in our minds. Such moments and friends are unforgettable and even as time passes by, they have an everlasting role to play in my life.
Life is beautiful and life is short.
And life has to be lived to its fullest.
The world is small and we will meet again
So don't forget me and I won't forget you.
Thank you all for you have helped me grow
My seeds of success you helped me sow.

PS - :) There are some people who also have a major role to play in my life but they can't be mentioned in this blog post because of personal reasons. Don't question who they are and if you are the person I am mentioning about, then don't worry cause you will surely appear in my autobiography - "Touching the Sky" which will be released on January 12th, 2024.
PS- I will honestly try to get it published in this date.                                 When i would be writing the book i will be reading all                        my posts and I will see the date. A good reminder.

The Man I Met

For I met  a man
Not in the streets of any desert
But we together ran,
On the same road of Life.

In his eyes he had no respect
In his mouth he had no shame.
For him the world was perfect
As for any problem he wouldn't be blame'.

So he moved on in his life,
Leaving the rest behind.
Or did they let him go?
For with him i now bind.

With a humble, elegant smile i walk,
But he walks with his pride
I leave a place with carved laughters,
He exits leaving a great tide.

As we move along this path,
The first thing that he said-
"I have more that thy hath
And I shall live, when thy dead.

For I met a man,
With an indomitable spirit,
As we together ran,
On this road of life.

"Life can do me no harm,
Its simply a  game of dice.
If i get all sixes I do win,
Even if through a pack of lies."

"Nature brings solace of all troubles
So why can't thou play fare?"
"Fare is what cowardess do-
Winning is what champions care."

"What is easy can drag you down
Thy demor only for attention.
For later, thou will have a frown,
Life isn't always Fiction."

"Life is an unreliable blend of Fact and Fantasy,
And I'm the best, that's a Fact.
I will later be in ecstasy,
Thou honesty will have no impact."

For I met a man,
Who gets happiness amidst misery
Tied up together we ran
On the same road of Life.

When shall I find peace,
And Rest within my self again.
I knew this journey won't end with ease,
This man was the biggest stain.

Battles raging within the mind and heart,
He would always choose his mind.
His heart lay there with no will to beat,
As he had become a very dark fiend.

To escape from his all night bickering,
I would sit Quite alone with Heaven.
I feel my heart beat in fear in his presence,
His heart he fed to a Raven.

But closely when I saw this man,
He wasn't so much different.
I couldn't bear the sight of my tears,
A chill to my spine the realization sent.

For I met a man,
Who was none other than me.
With him all my life I ran,
On this lonely road of life.

Pessimism

School is one of the most boring places i visit nowadays . But that only implies if i am in class or not. Usually i am not but whenever i am, it  ends up that i sit staring at my teachers who is talking stuff which goes right above my head. So the usual pass time for me is either playing Sharades with my pals or drawing caricatures of my fellow classmates. But after a long gap an old hobby of mine came back. I felt like writing a poem. Even though earlier i used to write poems just for the heck of writing and would end up writting on topics like why my mom cried while watching a movie but that was the past ... This time i was in the mood of writing a real poem, a type of poem which i don't like and my parents don't prefer me to write. But i ended up writing it at the last page of my rusted English Language copy.

I admit the topic is still a bit weird but that is what struck me, it is what gave me the chill to write this sonnet. About something which my parents believe i am not. So you can think that this poem was not written by me, but my alter ego who i like to call Luna Moonrider. The name isn't so evil but i bet he(or she..i really don't know cause the name is of a girl) is.
Anyways , here is the poem by Luna Moonrider a.k.a. Niranjan R. Bharati :-

PESSIMISM
As i stand in the midst of darkness,
and evil around me roams,
Ripping me apart with their sharpness
to find in my heart a deep hole.

In me, infested now  it lives,
and on my soul it feeds.
But when the lunar reaps ,empowerment it gives
Now on their soul i feed.

For light has an end, it will unlit
But the darkness is the almighty immortal.
When they rise, even Apollo is made to sit
For at night the world becomes their slave.

So we humans will always live with fear,
As fear is what they seek.

'Tails' of Happiness

"Happiness is a warm puppy"
-Charles M. Schulz
I have already talked about my affection for dogs in my previous posts so no need to repeat everything. Dogs have always been my best form of entertainment and half of my YouTube history is full of Dog videos.
As i have been behind my mom and dad for the past ten years my hard work has not come to waste. After 10 years of great anticipation i have a dog roaming around my house.
Before i go on to what is its name and what it is doing now, let me start with how I got it.
It all started one day when i came back after school. As usual I ate lunch and went to sleep. The maid came and rang the bell till it went dead but still my sleep could not be disturbed. I ended up waking up when my mom called me on my cell.

Evening passed as usual but it all changed when my mom returned from office. She was a bit late and I was on my study Table doing my Homework but also chatting with my friends (not girlfriend). When my mom returned she entered the kitchen and started talking to Dad about something and as usual i poked my ear into the conversation:-
Mom: Did you know there is a cute dog which lives just beside our house? In the reserve bank flats....
Dad: Oh really! Thats good... Now listen, do you know this classical singer Shri. ABC(i don't care about their odd names)...
I enter
Me: What dog mom?
Mom: why did you get up from your seat? Go study.
Me: Atleast tell me its breed
Mom: Hmm..... Its Lhasa Apso... It is so cute and small.
Me: Wow... Can we get it?
Mom: I don't know. You get 95% and we will buy it.
Me: 95%?
.
.
.
.
.
.
Well, that goes on a lot but in a nutshell i got to know that our neighbors have a Lhasa Apso. I went on the net searching for this dog and when i found out about its cuteness i went bonkers.
I and mom went to their place the next day and took the contact of the person who sold the dog to them. I also met the dog CoCo who was so adorable. After we took contact of the doctor we went to the doctor that day only. We say that aunty with CoCo their to give her an injection.
After they left my mom asked the doctor what all dogs he had. It was told that he had a Pekingese and a Yorkshire Terrier. When we saw both the dogs we loved the pekingese. I insisted mom to take it that day only as mom rarely get in such a good mood but my request was rejected. The next day my mom's purse got pick pocketed and she had drawn 20000 buck just the previous day for the dog. Mom said it was a bad omen and we should not get the dog but later we realized that the 20,000 bucks was not stolen. That day we went to the doctors place and we got the dog. a drown kum golden color Pekingese. She was so cute and adorable.
After days of thinking i came up with 3 names-
Lily
Oreo
Eevee

Mom liked Lily and my brother liked Oreo but i wanted Eevee. You see, eevee is a Pokemon which looks just like my dog.

After convincing my parents we went or the name Eevee. She is so entertaining I don't need a TV any more. All of us giggled on the way she slept, the way she sat etc. She is what brings happiness to this small house. Even my dad now talks about Eevee and has left his classical music. Eevee is our fifth member in our nuclear family. My little sister whose barks and bites carve a smile on everyone including our neighbors and maids.
EEVEE
Eevee
